Ryan Thompson

Ryan Thompson is a Consultant with Triad Consulting Group. He specializes in the design and delivery of training programs on negotiation and influence, effective communication, and conflict management. With over 15 years of experience in the field, Ryan is adept at communicating ideas and concepts, and demonstrating how they can be applied to peoples’ context to achieve better results. His empathetic and humorous approach fosters a positive and engaging learning environment. He has worked extensively in the public and private sectors, as well as with not-for-profit and indigenous groups.  

Before entering the field of negotiation, Ryan spent several years as an Ecological Risk Analyst. This work primarily involved performing wildlife risk assessments for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at contaminated sites. His time in environmental consulting gave him hands-on experience in conflict management and negotiation in the areas of project management, research and design, and public-stakeholder involvement. 

Ryan has a Master’s degree in Conflict Studies from St. Paul University in Ottawa (Canada). Research for his Master’s degree included labor and management relations and the influence that gender, culture, and the environment have on the negotiation process. Ryan lives in Ottawa, Canada with his wife, Angela, and their three boys, two cats, and dog.
